Teens Convicted in North Platte Youth Center Stabbings Get Prison

Posted: Updated:
Two central Nebraska teens convicted of stabbing two employees at the Nebraska Youth Center in North Platte last July have been ordered to serve years in prison.

On Monday, 18-year-old Keenan Lambert, of Miller, was sentenced to 20 to 40 years and 17-year-old Jordan Baker, of Hastings, was sentenced to 15 to 30 years. The each had pleaded no contest to felony assault and use of a deadly weapon after prosecutors reduced charges from attempted first-degree murder.

Prosecutors say the teens stabbed Diana Johns and Robin Schneider on July 8, stole an employee's vehicle and fled the center. They were captured later that day in Dawson County. Both employees had to be treated at the hospital following the incident.

Judge Donald Rowlands says he gave Lambert more prison time than Baker because he's older and seemed to be guiding their actions.
