Remains Found Near Arnold Believed to be From 1800s
Officials say remains found on a farm near the town of Arnold in October likely date back to the 1800s.
The found skull, mandible and partial skeleton are believed to be from an American Indian who died between 1820 and 1870.
Officials from the Nebraska State Historical Society, aided by university researchers, determined the remains were those of a man older than 40. However, they were unable to determine the cause of his death or to which tribe he may have belonged.
The Nebraska Commission on Indian Affairs will oversee the reburial.
