Republican Gubernatorial candidate Pete Ricketts and former Nebraska Governor Kay Orr stopped in Kearney discussing two hot topics...agriculture and taxes.
Ricketts says he's been working with ag and business leaders on how to grow agriculture and get tax relief to citizens. His plan includes a strategy for water sustainability, and putting value on corn ethanol and livestock.
He says focusing on agriculture and manufacturing will help local communities.
"If you look at Kearney and surrounding areas, by helping agriculture and manufacturing, those are the two biggest industries in our state. Agriculture is the heart and soul what we do here," said Republican candidate Pete Ricketts. "That will help grow the economy and create those good paying jobs that will help bring our kids back, so they go away to school, come back here maybe be fortunate enough to stay in Kearney, but we've gotta have these jobs around here."
Ricketts has been holding town hall meetings like this one in communities across the state.
