Gas prices in Kearney are dropping. AAA Nebraska says Kearney is now 10 cents below the state average. The dip in gas may be due to added competition.
Last Tuesday Hy-Vee moved into Kearney offering 16 gas pumps. On the first day, gas dropped 8 cents per gallon. AAA says the new store has brought some competition to the city.
Super unleaded gas is at $3.43 a gallon; a week ago it was 14 cents higher. However, these prices may not last forever.
“We do know competition isn't always as keen as it is right now in the Kearney market place, it just depends on the vendors and how long they have prices this low. You can see in the future is maybe prices leveling out to an average level,” said Rose White of AAA.
