Grand Island - The Nebraska State Patrol will be watching the roads closely this weekend in hopes of reducing alcohol related accidents and deaths.
The special enforcement starts Saturday evening and will continue into the early morning hours on Sunday. The Nebraska State Patrol will conduct high visibility patrols and DUI checkpoints in and around Hall County as part of the special enforcement.
“We are asking the motoring public to partner with us in an effort to save lives on our roads,” said Captain Chris Kolb, Commander Troop C-Grand Island. “Motorists can do their part by never driving impaired and always wearing their seat belt.”
The special enforcement effort is paid for thanks in part to a $2,375 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS).
