State Unemployment Rate Dips to 3.6 Percent

Posted: Updated:
The Nebraska Department of Labor says the state's unemployment rate has seen a slight drop, falling to 3.6 percent in April.

That's two-tenths of a point below the revised March rate of 3.8 percent, which was a tenth of a point higher than the preliminary March rate of 3.7 percent. April's preliminary rate also is down four-tenths of a point from the 4 percent revised rate for April 2013.

Labor Commissioner Catherine Lang says in addition to the drop in the unemployment rate, the state's labor force has also grown over the past month. April's non-farm employment saw an increase of more than 10,000 jobs from March.

Nebraska's unemployment rate remains well below the preliminary national rate of 6.3 percent for April.
