A 15-year-old Wyoming boy charged with killing a Nebraska corrections officer has been sentenced for the crime that originally landed him behind bars.
Dylan Cardeilhac, of Torrington, Wyo., was sentenced Thursday in Scotts Bluff District Court to eight to 15 years in prison for aiding in the robbery of a Mitchell, Neb. convenience store last December. Cardeilhac pleaded guilty to the robbery charge in April.
The teen is also facing a first-degree murder charge for the death of 24-year-old corrections officer Amanda Baker on Feb. 14.
Authorities say he lured Baker into his jail cell and then pounced on her, strangling her from behind.
Cardeilhac has pleaded not guilty to the murder charge.
