An annual family event centered around a local park continues to be a hit for the Kearney community.
City Park and Recreation officials say last weekend's attendance started out a little slow because of the chilly temps, but numbers climbed as the weather warmed up.
They estimate between 1,500 to 2,000 people showed up to share in the uniqueness the park has to offer.
"They have the lake, they have the green space area, the ERC building, paddle boating," said KPR's Jade Meads. "There's so much there at that park that people should take advantage of, and it's just a great event where we can highlight it."
Officials say they couldn't pull this event off without event sponsors, and plans are already underway for next year's celebration.
