Good Samaritan Hospital Breast Cancer Center Gets Fifth Accreditation

Posted: Updated:
One in eight women will get breast cancer and Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney wants to lower that number.

Thursday, they celebrated their fifth accreditation.

The hospital wants to improve breast cancer treatment for their patients by decreasing the amount of time in-between procedures.

To accomplish this, they plan to reach out to different hospitals to learn how to speed up the treatment process.

“She’s extremely anxious and worried what the diagnosis is, we want to help eliminate or decrease that anxiety,” explained Breast Cancer Center manager Alexandra Dillon.

The hospital encourages all women 40 and older to get a breast exam once a year, anyone younger should give themselves a self-examination.

The hospital also tries to spread awareness about the importance of checkups by speaking to different women’s groups in the community.
