The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services has partnered with several organizations across the state to help distribute fans to families and individuals as summer temperatures approach.
Each organization will determine who can receive the fans, which were purchased with funds from the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
“We expect hundreds of fans will be provided across the state to help individuals and families who are most likely to be affected by the hot weather,” said Thomas Pristow, director of Children and Family Services.

Individuals who are 70 years of age or older or more susceptible to heat because of a medical condition, or a family with a qualifying person may also apply for the DHHS cooling program, which assists low-income individuals and families with bill payments.
