After many years, planning and anticipation, the new Russ’s Market in Hastings is officially open for business.
The newly built store opened its doors at 8 a.m. with a ribbon cutting event.
Chamber members, the mayor and many others were in attendance to welcome in the new store.
Officials say though there have been some bumps along the way during this long process, they're pleased to finally be moved in and able to serve Hastings and surrounding areas.
"There’s been some ups and downs. We were not sure if we were going to get it done, not sure the city was going to approve things. So you know there's been some ups and downs with this project, but to see it all come together today is so exciting. We just needed the new store so badly," said store director Steve Richardson.
The new store has been in the works since 2003.
It features many modern upgrades to suit the current shoppers that include an expanded organic section, in-store café, a pharmacy, floral service as well as a lounge area.
