Garden City, NY (PRWEB) June 26, 2014

NAPW honors Lilianne Smith, M.A., LPCA and Psychotherapist, as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year. Ms. Smith is recognized with this prestigious distinction for leadership in counseling. As the largest, most-recognized organization of women in the country, spanning virtually every industry and profession, the National Association of Professional Women is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and nearly 300 Local Chapters.

As a Licensed Professional Therapist (LPC) Lilianne R. Smith specializes in helping both children and adults. Ms. Smith treats adults in need of counseling for depression, relationship issues, anxiety, identity and vocational concerns. When treating children, she uses a technique called Play Therapy. "Play Therapy differs from regular play in that the therapist helps children to address and resolve their own problems, says Ms. Smith whose use of Play Therapy builds on the natural way that children learn about themselves and their relationships in the world around them. Through Play Therapy, children learn to communicate with others, express feelings, modify behavior, develop problem-solving skills and learn a variety of ways of relating to others.

My practice is built on the belief that my clients' needs are of the utmost importance, says Ms. Smith who understands that both personal perception and human nature play an extremely important role in our search for meaning and significance. Ms. Smith has a Master of Arts degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
