Grand Island Man Arrested for Stabbing Coworker with Meat Hook

Posted: Updated:
Grand Island, NE - Grand Island police say a fight between two men outside a meat packing plant led to one stabbing the other with a meat hook.

Capt. Dean Elliot says it happened around 1:00 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of JBS Swift where the two men work.

Elliot says Abdi Osman, 33, of Grand Island and Mohamed Osman, 26, of Grand Island are not related to each other, but have been involved in an ongoing dispute.  The two were arguing, and Mohamed told police Abdi stabbed him in the back with a meat hook.  Abdi told officers Mohamed knocked him down and was on top of him when he used the hook to defend himself.

Elliot says Abdi was arrested for second degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.  Mohamed was treated and released from the hospital, and has been referred to the Hall County Attorney for third degree assault, a misdemeanor charge.
