Kearney Architectural Firm Signs Contract, Set to Begin Design Work on Veterans Home

Posted: Updated:
Work is set to begin on the Central Nebraska Veterans Home.

Officials say the state of Nebraska signed the contract this week with Wilkins Hinrichs Stober Architects of Kearney to be the lead firm on the project.

Officials are eager to begin design work to complete the next step in the grant process "to demonstrate both its readiness for federal participation and to ensure a deliberate and thoughtful design," according to John Hilgert, director of the Department of Health and Human Services Division of Veterans Homes.

Hilgert says these steps are important to ensure Nebraska is ready when the federal funding is granted.

DHHS says Wilkins Hinrichs Stober Architects has worked on more than 100 senior care projects including the Grand Island Good Samaritan Village and the Holdrege Christian Homes Assisted Living facility, making them uniquely qualified for the veterans home project.
