Kimball Woman Given Probation in Social Security Theft

 A 74-year-old woman Kimball woman has been given probation and ordered to make restitution after stealing thousands of dollars from the Social Security Administration over 15 years. 

U.S. Attorney Deborah Gilg says Lois Powell was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay back $177,675 in payments she received by defrauding federal officials. 

Gilg says Powell pleaded guilty to receiving the benefits belonging to a dead friend. Powell had been added as a signor to the friend's account and she kept the payments even after her friend died in 1998.
