Troopers Plan Special Enforcement for Holiday Weekend

Posted: Updated:
The Nebraska State Patrol will be increasing the number of troopers on Nebraska roadways over the 4th of July weekend as part of its "Drive to Save Lives" initiative.

The enforcement effort begins Thursday and runs through Saturday.

The patrol says troopers will especially be on the lookout for crash-causing behaviors, including speeding, following too closely and impaired/distracted driving.

“If you are planning to travel, we encourage you to help us save lives by complying with all highway safety laws,” said NSP Superintendent Colonel David Sankey.

Overtime for the special enforcement effort is being paid in part from a nearly $19,000 grant from the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety.
