A new way to exercise will be featured at two Kearney parks soon.
A $1,000 grant from the Buffalo County Community Partners will help Kearney Park and Recreation purchase itBikes. These bikes will be available for the public to use at the Cottonmill and Yanney Park marinas.
itBikes are designed with a wide and stable hull and can be used by people of all ages and activity levels.
Kearney Park Recreation's goal is to attract 74 percent of adults who are not currently getting the recommended amount of daily exercise. The project’s success will be tracked by measuring how often the bikes are used each day.
The group will introduce the itBikes through recreation programs and day camps. They will also be partnering with Activate Buffalo County to promote the itBikes through videos and other information on the bikes.
