New York, NY / ACCESSWIRE / July 11, 2014 / Expanding its revenue based beyond the lucrative direct-to-video features market, independent studio Hannover House, Inc. (OTC: HHSE), has committed to three additional theatrical productions with a combined production commitment of four-million-dollars. All three of the productions benefitting from the new funding commitment are horror or thriller themed, a genre’ that Hannover House feels can be efficiently marketed theatrically, and predictably sold to home video and video-on-demand platforms. The titles are all in production or pre-production for 2014 shoots, and will be released to theatres and home video during 2015.
“Shadow Vision” was written by Truman Nicholson and Eric Parkinson, with principal photography already underway. Four medical researchers develop extra-sensory powers after self-administering a formula to enhance vision. The company describes the film as a cross between “Scanners” and “This Present Darkness.”
“The Unwelcome” was written by Adam Roberts and Steven Rumbelow; producers are Tony Wonnacott, Dan Griffin and Steven Rumbelow. The film chronicles the story of two researchers of paranormal activity that are hired to investigate strange occurrences at an old, Louisiana plantation. Negotiations are underway to secure a major star for the leading role.
“Clown Town” tells the story of an abandoned amusement park, shuttered since bankruptcy that is now the secret lair of an army of crazed-killers, led by the revengeful son of Bonkers the Clown. Hannover House expects the film to be suitable for a PG-13 rating, in order to expand its appeal to a broader theatrical audience than most R-rated horror titles.
Hannover House will commence international sales of all three features at the American Film Market / IFTA conference in Santa Monica this November, through the international marketing division, Medallion Releasing. Hannover and Medallion will also be selling three other films which were launched at Cannes, specifically “Mother Goose: Journey to Utopia”, “The Legend of Belle Starr” and “Black-Eyed Dog”, which will also be released theatrically this October.
Hannover House and its affiliated label partners under Medallion, plan to release thirty-six titles during 2015 to the DVD or Blu-Ray markets. The six theatrical productions, including the three new titles covered under this week’s financing commitment, are expected to drive visibility and revenues for the company in 2015, with immediate benefits in 2014 being generated from international sales and co-production ventures.
Key theatrical exhibition chains that carry Hannover House titles include (alphabetically) AMC Theatres, BowTie Cinemas, Carmike, Cinemark-Century, Clearview Cinemas, Emerging Pictures, Harkins, Malco, National Amusements, Pacific, Rave Motion Pictures and the Regal Entertainment Group (including Regal, Edwards and United Artists Theatres).
