From a single table of books 31 years ago, to now more than 60 categories up for sale, the Friends of the Hastings Public Library hosts its annual book sale this weekend, all to help with non-regularly budgeted projects for the library.
Officials say it takes a year to compile and sort, calling them the most loved books because of how much work goes into the event.
"They're individually sorted by category then they're boxed up and moved over here on moving day, which is a wonderful experience of our community working together," said organization president Cammie Farrell. "We have so many wonderful volunteers and wonderful people that work on this, I just can't tell you how exciting it is to be part of this whole effort."
The sale started Friday and continues Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. at the Hastings City Auditorium.
