G.I. Art in the Park Boasts High Attendance

Posted: Updated:
The weather is credited for boosting numbers at Grand Island’s Art in the Park.

The 32nd annual event hosted about 60 vendors Sunday at Stolley Park.

Organizers estimated 1,500 people attended. They said between 800 and 1,200 usually come to the event every year.

They not only had the chance to buy art, but also the opportunity to make it in the Kids Creative Center.

Participants said it gives artists a channel to share their art.

"I think that's really important to have an outlet for them for creativity and it gives people a chance to buy original art. It doesn't have to match your sofa. It can be something that really moves you, impresses you, gives you a feeling," said Pam Andersen, president of Hall County’s Moonshell Arts and Humanities Council.

Awards were also given out for the best pieces.
