Grand Island, NE -
A new parking ban is impacting they way parents pick up their kids from a Grand Island school.
The Grand Island City Council voted to eliminate parking on Stolley Park Road in July. Now school officials estimate parents have 50 to 100 fewer spots to wait for their child when picking them up from Stolley Park Elementary.
G.I. Public Schools painted new lanes in the parking lot in an effort to reduce congestion.
No streets surrounding the school have parking, although Stolley Park Road still allows "immediate pick-ups" on its south side.
Grand Island police were reminding parents of the new ordinance Tuesday on the first day of school.
